Life Lesson: 2023 and Gratitude

As 2023 wraps up, the lesson that resonates with me the most is the significance of practicing gratitude.

As much as it appears simple, staying committed to gratitude daily is truly tough. It’s effortless to embrace gratitude when life’s smooth sailing brings joy, but when faced with setbacks or shortcomings, maintaining that gratitude becomes a real challenge.

Watching Rhonda Byrne talk about “The Secret” and The Law of Attraction really resonated with me, particularly when she shared…

“The purpose of life is joy! When you’re in joy, you attract the highest and best in every area of your life. Joy increases to the exact degree that you deliberately increase your good thoughts, good words, and good actions. I’ve found in my life that the easiest way to increase my joy is to religiously practice gratitude until I’m a gratitude machine!”

This is one of my favourite quotes and these are another ones…

“Everything you want to be, do or have comes from love.”

“Joy attracts more joy. Happiness attracts more happiness. Peace attracts more peace. GRATITUDE attracts more GRATITUDE. Kindness attracts more kindness. Love attracts more love.

Your job is an inside one. To change your world, all you have to do is change the way you feel inside. How easy is that?”

Lately, I’ve made a conscious effort to be thankful for what I have, even amidst challenging times. I’m deliberately opting for joy and love, no matter what’s happening around me. It’s amazing to see how this attitude of gratitude is shaping my interactions, conversations, and collaborations with others.

I begin to count my blessings every single day. One of the most cherished is having healthy parents whom I can travel with, experiencing their joy adds so much to my own. Their support allows me the freedom to pursue my aspirations. Not everyone is having complete parents! So consider yourself lucky If you have them both and still healthy :)

I’m lucky to have a small circle of close and genuine friends, whether they’re in the same town or in different parts of the world – They say having just one true friend is rare, so I feel so lucky.

Right now, I’m also healthy, in a good space with my creativity and have the opportunity to develop my own venture. Despite the struggles that come with it, I choose to see these challenges as my source of growth, navigating them with love and joy over fear. Plus, I also thank for all the challenges that come in my life (love all the goodness and flaws).

Of course, there are still times when I feel down, and not every day I can do it, but practice makes perfect and one of them is writing this :)

What we define as good or bad is often a matter of perspective.

It’s within our control and we have the power to choose how we internalise the life’s circumstances, irrespective of what comes our way. That’s why we call it “life lessons.”

Isn’t it beautiful, amidst any amazing things and hardships, we pause daily to cherish the blessings that we have?
